Description

Teridax's plans were mad but no one had the mind to stop his scheming, especially after he defeated his honorable brother Mata Nui, casting him into an endless sleep. Icarax was one of the last of the Brotherhood of Makuta to hear of the Great Plan and the first to act against it. Icarax gathered all of the Manas on Karzahni and began to leave to strike his scheming brother down. Plotting and scheming had made the Brotherhood become weak, and it was time to once and for all show the world the raw power the Makuta commanded.
Before he left however, Karzahni's ruler, Karzahni, was not unaware of her Manas enforcers gone missing and confronted the Makuta of her land. For the longest time she had a held a great... admiration... for Icarax, who although was aggressive and often ill-tempered, honestly meant well for others to become strong, as he had stepped in and helped her rebuild her Matoran and her nation when she had failed bitterly herself.
She met with him and showed him the folly of his plan, showing him through her mask power how he would fight for days and days on end only to be finally defeated by the very Manas he had brought to aid him. She managed to convince him to not go headfirst into his battle, and to not go alone and plan wisely, much to Icarax's annoyance. She gave him a handful of Visorak instead and secretly ordered one of them to hold their self back until the final, deciding moment.
The time for the battle had finally come. The duel lasted for days and was truly something to behold. Unfortunately, Teridax took his time, patiently wearing Icarax down who fought with all the energy he could, and was slowly able to overpower his reckless opponent.
Desperate, Icarax summoned his Visorak to attack his foe but Teridax took control of them immediately, having already been told by Karzahni what Icarax would do. Furious by the betrayal, Icarax made a final stand, easily crushing the Visorak with gravity and charged towards his opponent. Teridax easily avoided the anger-blinded attacks and began to whittle his opponent down, blow by blow.
Teridax began to amuse himself, tearing Icarax's wings off so he had no means of escape. As Teridax paraded his victory, Icarax noticed that one of the Visorak he had taken was missing.  As Teridax ended his mocking to his enemy and went to land the final blow and kill the usurper, a Suukorak fired it's spinner, gravely weakening the already exhausted Makuta and leaped at him. Teridax fought the Suukorak, ripping it apart and flaying it. Tired, weakened, fatigued and most importantly, distracted, Teridax didn't notice that his opponent was no longer downed and found himself unable to counter his next attack.
Barely escaping from near-defeat, Icarax tore the Kraahkan from Teridax's face, the power that surged from doing so obliterating Icarax's hand, grabbed hold of Teridax's own spear and ended his opponent.
As Icarax lay there, dying, the Suukorak shuffled over to it's master and held one of it's mangled feet towards him, revealing a crumpled note with familiar handwriting. The last thing he saw before fading into unconsciousness were the words "I will never let you go alone".

Icarax awoke on a working table, surrounded by frantic Matoran workers busily running about in an unfamiliar rebuilding chamber. He found himself unable to move but soon realised his body was being rebuilt by the frantic workers.
One figure oversaw the work. He was tall, incredibly well built and had some of the most beautiful armour Icarax had ever seen. He told Icarax to rest, explaining that he was doing a single favour for the one who fixed the madness that cursed his sister's mind, though he joked about how she was affected by a different kind of 'crazy' now.
Eventually, Icarax was allowed to stand but only so his rebuilder could figure out how to continue to fix his patient. When the work he needed to do was done, the rebuilder sent Icarax off, though the Makuta himself realised he was without armour but did not argue and left ever-grateful. He did ask one for one last favour however...

Icarax and the Suukorak, now named Ropoorax and decked in armour of pure gold, returned to the realm of Karzahni, where it's mistress waited for their return. When Icarax finally found her - Karzahni - he set all his pride aside and for the first time showed humbleness and bowed before her and thanked her for all the help she had done. She had shown true loyalty to one who had acted so foolish and selfishly, and had showed an honor that shone brighter than any jewel. She presented him the Kraahkan and gave it to him, asking that he do nothing but stay by her side and look after her people, which he accepted willingly. He donned the mask, finally feeling the satisfaction of not his own victory, but theirs.

But the victory did not last for long...

I have a theory. If Makutas don't go to the Red Star when they die, then where do they go? I like to think that they go to some kind of shadow realm or purgatory, where they either stay for eternity or, for the purpose of a continuation of G1, find some way back to the mortal realm. This could be the result of some matoran dabbling in things they shouldn't be dabbling in, some antidermis or dark relic left in the Great Spirit robot, or something else. Of course they wouldn't come back as a physical being, but more as a ghost or spirit, and they have little time before they fade back into Oblivion. Maybe, just maybe, Teridax had some kind of failsafe in place, like a spare body, to possess in case he was ever defeated or killed. When he took over the matoran universe, he essentially overthrew a god, and when he became one himself, he knew deep down that it was possible for himself to be overthrown himself, and devised a plan in case that ever happened. He knew of the shadow realms nature and made a vessel designed to contain his consciousness in its ethereal state. When his ghost comes back after his death, all he has to do is find the vessel, possess it, and start his plan from scratch.

But wait, there's more. Teridax finds his new vessel and is about to possess it, but it springs to life before he can. Teridax is shocked as he hears a familiar voice come out of it. This voice belongs to none other than Icarax, his former lieutenant. He tells Teridax that things are going to be different this time. He then traps Teridax's ghost and locks it away so that he can't interfere with Icarax's plan: To bring back the Makuta race he had betrayed and slaughtered, wipe out the Toa, snuff out Mata Nui's spirit, and bring about a new age for Makuta kind. He would start this plan by crafting new bodies for his fallen brothers and sisters to possess. He would then scour the remains of his former master's body and find a supply of antidermis for him to use to create new Makutas and start rebuilding his race. Either that or he could either locate Miserix, harvest his antidermis and use that, or find the antidermis pool that had birthed them in the first place. Either way, Icarax will take Teridax's place and become a new main villain for a new generation of Toa to face.
